Similar to a honeymoon, a babymoon is a short trip before baby’s arrival to get away from the norm, relax and connect as parents-to-be.
Gregory and I just got back from our babymoon in Nashville and it was everything and more than what we thought we needed. We both are extremely busy with our schedules, so even eating dinner together can be a challenge….much less sitting down to plan for little Levi’s arrival. We really enjoyed this trip. It was a go-at-our-own-pace trip with no schedule and doing whatever we wanted to do. And sometimes that included takeout in the hotel and renting a movie. But bottom line, we both left the trip feeling refreshed which is SO important.
So go ahead and treat yo self. Your life is about to change big time with a little one coming into the world. Take some time for yourself and relax.
When we were talking about taking a babymoon trip, the destination was key. I wasn’t sure how the crazy pregnancy hormones were going to have me feel so we knew we needed to pick a place that was low key with not a bunch of walking. My dream would have been to go to Chicago and New York, but this mama would not have been able to keep up. I made a list of places that fit the bid for the ideal take-it-easy trip with plenty of things to do. Here’s my top southern babymoon destinations:
Need I say more? This historic city is a breath of fresh air with a slow-paced vibe. Take it easy on a horse and carriage ride and indulge in southern soul food. We went earlier this year for a NYE trip to Savannah and found some really great eats. Check out my best brunch spots in Savannah.
Definitely on my bucketlist to visit here! I went as a kid but have been eager to go back, partly because my binge-worthy show, Southern Charm, is filmed there but also because I love the historic homes, cobblestone streets, horse-drawn carriages and pastel antebellum houses, particularly in the elegant French Quarter and Battery districts.
Put your toes in the sand and soak in the sun on the beach. Seaside is the cutest little beach town with local shopping, airstream restaurants and bike rides to entertainment. Gregory and I live only a couple of hours from Seaside and we often find ourselves escaping for the day. It’s a great place to unwind and indulge in the slow-paced environment.
Home to the most delicious food and mama friendly entertainment, Nashville is always a good time. And we happened to go during the fall, so we drove Natchez Trace Parkway from Natchez, MS to Nashville, TN and it was gorgeous. I was swooning over the fall leaves, cooler weather and this adorable pumpkin house. Here’s my Five Things You Must Do While in Nashville and 10 Best Eats of Nashville.
Pregnancy so far has really made be take a step back, enjoy the simple moments and reevaluate what’s important. I’m carrying around a kiddo and putting myself first has finally become a priority. I encourage all of you parents-to-be or even not, take some time to do you and find some ME time. It’s good for the soul!
